Dubbed by Variety as a “major talent”, Jasmin Mozaffari is an award-winning film & television writer/director who studied film at Toronto Metropolitan University.
Her short films FIRECRACKERS (2013), WAVE (2015), and sleep on the tracks (2017) screened at the Toronto International Film Festival and numerous other festivals across Europe and the US.
Her debut feature, FIRECRACKERS, premiered at TIFF in 2018 with The Globe and Mail calling Jasmin a “vital new voice for Canadian cinema”. FIRECRACKERS won Best Film at the Stockholm International Film Festival and Jasmin took home the award for Best Director at the Canadian Screen Awards. In 2019, FIRECRACKERS was released theatrically in Canada and the US to rave reviews. Peter Debruge (Variety) compared Jasmin to a “young Andrea Arnold”, the film was named a New York Times Critic’s Pick and was further celebrated by The LA Times, Vulture, New York Magazine, and The Hollywood Reporter.
Jasmin has gone on to direct episodic television for networks like Netflix, CBC, PBS, and HULU. She most recently directed the pilot and several episodes for the new Netflix-CBC Gem series, FAKES, due to be released in fall 2022.
