Karena Evans

Creative Executive Producer

Karena Evans has quickly established herself as one of entertainment’s most sought-after talents. Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, she launched herself into the spotlight in 2018, having directed some of the most celebrated music videos of recent years for Drake, Coldplay, and SZA, and starred in the critically acclaimed feature film, ‘Firecrackers.’

A multifaceted, award-winning director and actor, Karena is an artist drawn to cultural moments, who tells meaningful narratives in her work across film, music, and TV. She explores subjects that challenge the ethical issues of our time, approaching them with emotion, authenticity, and energy.

This trademark style led to her being named ‘Video Director of The Year’ at the 2019 BET Awards and the 2018 BET Hip-Hop Awards. For Drake’s ‘God’s Plan,’ she took home ‘Best Director’ at the 2018 Much Music Video Awards and ‘Video of the Year’ at the 2018 BET Awards. She also became the first-ever woman to be honored with the prestigious Prism Prize Lipsett Award for her innovative approach to creating music videos. In addition, she went on to win the most coveted award in advertising, the Grand Prix in the Entertainment Lions category at Cannes, for Tinder’s interactive experience, Swipe Night.

Building on this success, Karena has gone on to direct TV pilots for P-Valley and Gossip Girl and episodes of Snowfall and Y: The Last Man for FX Networks.

Whether behind or in front of the camera, a passion for telling relevant and essential stories underpins everything that Karena creates. Empowerment, diversity, and inclusivity are ever-present themes in her mission to continually represent the underrepresented and to elevate the voices of anyone who has had theirs suppressed in the past.
